inZOI and PUBG will soon have AI-enhanced Co-Playable Characters that can dynamically play with you
CES 2025 has unveiled a groundbreaking innovation in mobile gaming: the AI-powered "Co-Playable Character" (CPC). This new concept, first announced by PUBG's Krafton on January 8th, represents a significant leap forward. CPCs are essentially Non-Playable Characters (NPCs) enhanced with generative AI, and they're coming to both PUBG and inZOI.
inZOI's implementation, dubbed "Smart Zoi," promises emotionally nuanced characters with distinct personalities, adding a new layer of realism to the simulation. For PUBG, the "PUBG Ally" will dynamically adapt its strategies to enhance gameplay, creating a unique and potentially unsettling experience.

Developed in partnership with NVIDIA ACE, CPCs enable real-time conversations and adaptive scenarios. Kangwook Lee, Head of Krafton's Deep Learning Division, states, *"Our collaboration with NVIDIA is a testament to the transformative potential of AI in gaming, and we plan to work closely together to push the boundaries of what is possible."*
